Claire is a local musician and music teacher. Her musical career has taken her through many performances, both on stage and behind the scenes. She has worked in Artist Management, Stage management, even Sound and Light Engineering. Claire received her Degree in Music and Popular Music, and has since toured both Germany and Belgium. Settling in London Claire has started her own music education company ‘Melody Makers’ where she teaches with her husband.
Claire’s teaching experience has been quite varied over the last 15 years, from classroom teacher, choir/workshop leader and instrumentalist, (Merton Music Foundation), early years specialist (Monkey Music) to running her own music school (Melody Makers). In the last few years she is proud to have mentored 5 teachers.
Claire has many students with special needs from autistic spectrum and more complex physical needs (muscle fatigue conditions, tourette's syndrome, downs syndrome). Claire also work with LGBT/non binary young adults.
Claire has also helped many students/adults with auditions from various educational settings: Bath Spa University, Bristol Old Vic, Brit School of Performance and Creative Arts, King's College, Kingsdale, LSCD The Place, Sutton High School, Wallington Boys, Wimbledon College. Additionally Claire has also supported many performers auditioning for various positions, notably Wizard of Oz (Andrew Lloyd Webber), Les Mis (Cameron Mackintosh), Tarantino's Live (Riverside Studios), Cabaret and Abba Voyage.
Claire is proud of many things, how her business has developed, currently Melody makers teach over a 100 children a week and goes to great lengths to be accessible to people from all cultural and financial backgrounds. Claire loves how we promote a fresh forward approach to music education and performance. Claire is passionate about music being accessible to everyone.
Claire is passionate about music being in her community, in the last ten years she has concentrated on being a community musician working on: Sing for Water - Annual project raising money for the charity Water Aid as part of Thames Water festival, Community Panto at Wimbledon Holy Trinity Church, Jack Petchey Glee Club for Wimbledon Woodcraft Folk where she also volunteers. She is also involved with the local ballet school Siegeris School of Dance, and works on their production team for all of their shows; Beatrix Potter, Peter Pan in ‘Second Star to the Right’, Wizard of Oz in ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ and Alice in Wonderland 'Nothing's Impossible’.
